Overnight Fishing Trip

Bryson had the opportunity to go on an overnight fishing adventure in Galveston with his deacon's quorum. I'm so grateful for fun leaders who go above and beyond in planning fun activities!

Summer Outings

Matt took the boys fishing one Saturday with Papa

Last year I promised my boys we would try out the new water park 20 minutes away. Then Covid happened so we tried it this year instead. Ariane joined us.

This water park offered a variety of activities: obstacle course on a lake, petting zoo, a maze, axe throwing, and some archery in addition to the water slides. We had a great time!

Caleb was proud of his bullseye

The temple opened up for phase 3 (appointments only). We went with my extended family on May 22nd to do baptisms and confirmations. What a special experience to be together in the temple again for the first time in over a year!!

On June 12 we had a family fun day in the neighborhood with some fun games, rock climbing, photo booth, snacks, snow cones, train ride, etc. We didn't stay too long because it was extra HOT that day!

Quarantine Fishing

My boys have really been bonding with their dad over fishing during this quarantining phase. They go 3 to 4 times per week! It's a great motivator to make sure school work and piano is done for the day so they can be ready to go fishing as soon as Matt gets home from work. (Yes, his work is considered an essential business because it supports oil and gas so he still has his typical work days...except traffic is MUCH better!) The boys absolutely love fishing with their dad, and I enjoy the alone time at home after doing home school all day! It's a win-win. The weather is so gorgeous right now that I will typically be out rollerblading, listening to an audiobook, for a portion of the time they are gone.

Austin's job is to throw the fish back in the water.

Sometimes with a little kiss first...

Carter's First Time Fishing

Caleb and Carter were the recipients of some new fishing poles the other week. So it was time to try them out! Caleb loves fishing, and it's been quite awhile since he's gone with Matt. He was definitely looking forward to going all day.

Carter's first fish!

Giving it a kiss before throwing it back in the water. This is Matt's tradition for the first ever catch.

Caleb caught a total of 5 fish! It was hard to convince him to leave. He loves fishing!

Big Catch

Apparently this is going to be a bi-monthly activity because Caleb LOVES to go fishing now with his daddy. That's all Caleb could talk about all morning yesterday and was eager to help Mommy and Daddy all morning so that he could go. I promise I won't post every fishing trip, but Caleb caught his biggest fish to date this time.

His first catch: a purch

Caleb's biggest catch to date! Daddy had to help reel in this catfish.(BTW, I'm so glad these fish are set back free in the water because I would have nothing to do with the preparing to eat or eating of these fishy guys! Yuck!)

Our friends and neighbors, Peter and Lauren, went with Caleb and Matt. Next time Carter and I will have to join the party!
One of Lauren's catches.
And of course being outside in the hot weather deserved an ice cream cone to follow!

First Time Fishing

Father/Son Outing #2

There is a pond full of fish and ducks right next to our church building, so a few Saturdays ago when I needed to go practice the organ at the church, we decided to make a family trip. Carter and I went and practiced the organ (he slept), and Caleb and Matt went fishing. This was Caleb's first time, and he found it so exciting.

First they looked at these ducks that had just hatched a few days ago.
