On the Farm

At preschool this month, we have been talking about farm animals.  We took a field trip about 35 minutes away from home to a farm that has lots of animals, a train ride, pony rides, and a nice big park.

Preschool Field Trip

We have been learning about bugs this month in preschool, so we did a field trip to the Butterfly Museum. The kids were so excited about going and talked about it for 2 weeks. I was really excited about going because it was my first time to use my new camera! Our Christmas present to ourselves was supposed to be a new camera (our old one was literally falling apart), but we decided to hold out for a sale. We now have a Canon G12 PowerShot that we're really enjoying using and experimenting with. I haven't read the manual yet (it's on the to-do list), but I can already tell a difference in the quality of pictures. Anyway, here's a slideshow of our trip:

Caleb the Firefighter

Caleb went on a field trip to a fire station a few weeks ago with his preschool. Prior to heading out, all the kids got to dress up as a firefighter. We then talked about some safety tips, calling 911, and "stop, drop, and roll."

At the fire station, the kids got their very own fire hat, they got to climb in a fire truck, and even hold the water hose as it sprayed water!

They got to see a real firefighter dressed up and ready to fight a fire.

And finally they got to try on a real fireman's jacket. They all had a great time!

Butterfly Exhibit

The boys (Dallin, Caleb, and Samuel) have been learning about bugs this month in preschool, so it was time to take a visit to the Butterfly Museum downtown. It was so exciting to see all the bugs and have butterflies fly all around us!

Field Trip

Tuesday is free day at the Houston Natural Science Museum downtown, so last week, Ariane, Kari, and I made the trek with our kids. I'm not big on museums in the first place, and Caleb could have cared less, but it was fun to get out of the house and do something different. Once Caleb is a bit older, I know these outings will be more fun as he can talk and be more curious about everything. Here are a few pictures of Caleb and I:
