Mother's Day

We hosted my family for Mother's Day, and Matt smoked some chickens for some Hawaiian chicken sandwiches with grilled pineapple and bacon. It was delicious. He also made one of my favorite desserts: creme brulee.

My only mother's day request is that my boys play a game with me. Austin is the stinker that is unwilling to play games unless it is Settlers of Catan. I picked a game I thought he would enjoy, Tenzi, and he ended up winning!

We also got to listen in on a Santo Domingo North mission devotional, and then Caleb was allowed to call afterwards.

Mother's Day 2019

Matt made crepes for breakfast for Mother's Day.

Me and my boys

I led the Primary children in singing a mother's day medley of "Love is Spoken Here" and "Mother Tell Me the Story." After church, we met up at my mom's house for dinner. Clayton smoked a brisket and the other men helped with the sides.

Some things harder to decipher:
Favorite food-- cookies
Drink-- orange juice
Favorite TV Show and Movie-- "America's Got Talent"
Song-- Living in this world (first line of "I Will Be What I Believe," a song I'm teaching at church)

Mother's Day 2015

Matt and the boys treated me well for Mother's Day. I was able to sleep in until 7:30, then woke up with a start realizing that I was playing the organ at church that day! I had completely forgotten! I quickly looked up my songs, ran over to church to play through them, and came home to a warm omelet and this lovely card from my boys. This is my kind of card!

Later we got together with Ariane's family and my parents to celebrate our mom with dinner and dessert.

Sweet Caleb

I was just catching up on some things for Caleb's journal this morning and thought I'd share some of the funny things Caleb filled out for Mother's Day and Father's Day.

Caleb's Primary teacher had him fill out the following questions for Mother's Day in class:

1) What's your favorite food that Mom makes?
Waffles
2) What does your Mom like to do when you're not there?
Clean my room  Ha!
3) What does your Mom like to do with her friends?
Talk and play games
4) What's your favorite thing to do with your Mom?
Play games
5) What does your Mommy teach you?
She teaches me about money.

For Father's Day, Caleb filled out the following information about his dad:

My dad's name is Matt. He is 30 years old, 7 feet tall, and weighs 139.5 pounds.  (Caleb added 100 pounds to what he weighs in order to get this number.)  His favorite food is cantaloupe.  My dad is really good at bowling. My favorite thing to do with my dad is build train tracks. What I love most about my dad is wrestling. It makes Dad happy when I put his shoes away.

He is such a sweet boy!  We love his inquisitive mind that's always processing and making connections.

My First Mother's Day

It was really nice to be celebrated for the first time on this day. The day started off with church where I kicked trash on the organ. (I played #297 in the hymn book, which is a difficult song for those of you I know that play the organ. Your feet are moving constantly!) The best part about it was that lunch was served to the Relief Society during the 3rd hour! I don't know how appropriate that was, but I didn't complain: salad, sandwich, fruit, and dessert. After church, I opened my present from Caleb...a necklace with Caleb's birthstone and some Reeses candybars :o). (I've mentioned to Matt in the past that in all honesty, flowers are great, but I actually prefer chocolate.) We got together later that night with my siblings, parents, and grandparents for dinner. The men cooked while the women relaxed. It was fabulous!

Caleb's cute card. Matt spent 45 minutes with Caleb writing the note at the bottom. It says, "Love, Caleb (P.S. I did this left-handed)". Matt is a lefty.
