Fun Run

One of the fundraisers that Caleb's Elementary school did recently was a Fun Run.  The kids were responsible to try to receive pledges for running 25-35 laps.  I won't go into how upset fundraisers make me in general as far as the school brainwashing my child into believing that he has to get all these fabulous prizes.  But I will say that I loved that this fundraiser promoted fitness.  Caleb was so excited to run in a race like Mommy!

Here's the race about to start.

Running through the tunnel

After running 35 laps

Each lap, the kids had to stop and get a mark on their shirt so that laps could be tracked.  Most kids politely waited in a line since it was a chance to rest before running another lap.  Caleb finagled himself to the front pretty quickly so that he could get a mark and keep running.  (There were no rules about waiting in line because if that had been a rule, Caleb definitely would have followed it.  He is afraid of doing anything wrong at school!!)  Since there was a limited amount of time to run, he wanted to make sure he got the maximum of 35 laps!  He was one of the first kids to finish and had a great time.

I hear you on the fundraiser frustration. Ugh! We have talked to Ethan about how we are happy to help give a little money to his school but that we aren't going to have him asking other people to give money because they're giving money to their schools. And the prizes, argh!! Sounds like the fun run went really well, though.
